Rivers holds a Bachelor of Commerce at Mount Allison University and an MBA from the University of New Brunswick. He is the founder/CEO of Corbett Ventures, which has interests in The Chef Group, Relish Gourmet Burgers, and Trivnet Media Systems.

Throughout his career, Rivers has received several business honours, including  “Entrepreneur of the Year" as well as being recognized on Profit magazine’s - Canada’s Hottest Start-ups List and Canada’s Top 100 Growth Companies. Recently, he has received the Certificate of Achievement from the University of New Brunswick Faculty of Business as well as UNB's Alumni Award of Distinction.   

In addition, Rivers is a member of Startup Canada's National Advisory Council.
